WASHINGTON – The phone is the work of a group of researchers at the University of Washington in Seattle and works by garnering a small amount of power from radio signals, known as radio frequencies or ‘RF’ waves.
The findings may not be commensurate with the telephone technology findings by Alexander Graham Bell, but the two researchers at the University of Washington, Shyam Gollakota, and Vamsi Talla said their breakthrough was remarkable.
“This battery-free phone is a big leap in the ability of a battery-free device because now there’s a streaming device that can keep talking while receiving data, which is basically a phone,” Gollakota said.
